Most surgical procedures carry a few post operation restrictions with them before you return to normal, everyday activity. While some procedures have no downtime at all, such as Botox and fillers like Juvederm and Restylane, and other procedures have essentially no downtime and can be done at lunchtime.

Depending on what procedure you had performed, the restrictions may vary. Liposuction procedures are minimally invasive and done on an outpatient basis. Many people take a few days to about a week or so after their surgery was performed. After that initial week, you can resume work as well as working out in the gym with care and with your doctor's advice on specifics. We ask that you do not work the areas that the surgery was performed on so that you do not stretch the skin that we are trying to get to shrink post surgery with compression garments. For instance, if you had liposuction performed on your abdomen area, then it is best to refrain from doing crunches or working out on abdominal machines for a few weeks post procedure. Other more invasive procedures such as an abdominoplasty and breast augmentation do have a bit more restrictions as far as when you can get back to the gym. After breast augmentation surgery, we ask that you do not do any activity or work outs that may shake the breasts. This involves running and jogging, however cardio and weights can be resumed within a few weeks after surgery as long as you do not do anything that involves you lifting your arms over your head. As far as Los Angeles abdominoplasty procedures are concerned, we want you to abstain from heavy exercise for about a month or so after surgery. Again, we want you walking around and moving around the day you have your surgery performed and do not want our patients staying in bed all day.

It is important to meet with your surgeon during an initial consultation and be sure to cover all the bases before undergoing your procedure. Be sure to discuss expectations, risks, as well as recovery time as well. Southern California plastic surgery can be a wonderful start to a new and improved you, so meet with your doctor today!
